Fashion is without a doubt one of the most written about topics in our day and age. There are many sites offering tips and advice on how individuals can best wear their outfits. With already a surplus of such sites, the fashion market keeps on growing as there is a constant demand for more fashion-related content. Clothing is unbiased, as it affects all, the young and old.

The importance of fashion lies not in the physical clothing worn, but in its symbolisms to the person wearing it. Prezi states that fashion is often used as a form of expression, to perhaps show how one feels or perceives them self. It is a form of communication. Fashion has the ability to break isolation as it groups individuals of the same dress style together, such as hippies or goths. It can be a stream of unity. In contrast, it has the ability to diversify us as individuals, allowing one to stand out.

The three most important factors about fashion are that firstly, clothing can reflect geography. Fashion often incorporates cultural elements. It can therefore be a representation of our culture, not only culture, but religion as well. It therefore incorporates and forms part of our identity. Secondly, fashion keeps history alive. Trends that go out of style, later come back into style. This creates an opportunity for the preservation and recycling of clothes. The most important factor is that fashion boosts the economy. Fashion creates a lot of revenue for both developing and developed countries. There is a constant demand for clothing as it is a necessity. Therefore it will forever be a topic interest.

Fashion is therefore a topic necessary for discussion as it forms a large part of identity. It is a

representation of who we are and how we want other to perceive us. It is something we carry with us every day and therefore an integral part of our lives. It is able to convey our traditions and beliefs and has done economies of various countries justice.
