If you’re here reading this, then my assumption is that you want to look good every day. You feel as though you could take your occasional looking good once or twice a month, to looking good daily. You’ve probably spent hours on hours on Pinterest pinning outfit inspiration, scrolling on Instagram screenshoting and saving ways you could put your outfits together, and follow individuals you feel best personify your style. But despite all the above efforts and the endless outfit inspiration, you still struggle looking good every day. You do not have a scarcity of clothing. Oh no, you have more than enough clothes in your wardrobe. In fact, if you are like me, your wardrobe looks like a size 14 trying to squeeze itself into size 8 jeans- its busting at the seems . I get you. I can have all the clothes I need and still be lazy when it comes to dressing up. There is nothing more frustrating then having the desire to look good, but never having enough time or energy to see that desire fruition. Looking good can feel like a chore and a half. Hopefully, this one secret can make looking good less of a hassle.

I’ve read multiple articles and seen enough videos with tips and suggestions on how one can look good every day, but have come to find one secret that truly works- a secret my mom gave me. On moving to university, my mother told me that the only way I would master looking good every day was if I preplanned my outfits. Now thinking back to when I started using this secret of hers, I wish I had listened to her earlier, because listen, it works!! This strategy will have you looking good even on your laziest days.

How to implement this strategy:

In order for pre-planning your outfits to work, you need to have a day in the week designated to doing your laundry- of which you already probably do. This is important because you cannot pre-plan your outfits if you do not have any clean clothes to pick from. I also suggest that on the same day you do your laundry, you iron it. This takes away the hassle of having to iron in the morning. For me, ironing can be a huge determining factor in what I wear no matter how pretty that item of clothing might make me. If what I want to wear requires me to iron it, I then might not wear it, depending on my mood. So when you pre-iron all your clothes, you have no excuse to look bad.

Next, on a day where you feel good or better than other days, pre-plan your outfits. Mood plays a huge role in our outfit choices, that’s why it is important to do it on a day you feel good. It could also be on the same day you wash or iron your laundry. I would like to put a lot of emphasis on having a laundry routine. Put all your clothes on your bed and start assembling your outfits for the week, from Monday to Friday or whichever day your week might end. Sundays are usually a really good day to pre-plan outfits for the coming week. There will be a number of determining factors when it comes to your outfit choices. It could range from the feel you are going for, to the weather temperatures for the week.

Try it. Pre-planning your outfits forces you to look good even on days where you don’t feel like it, making you look good everyday. All you have to do it wake up and dress up.
